Each year the MOS president
selects one or two people deemed worthy of special recognition for some
activity performed during the past year. The form of the award is a
handsome presentation scroll, suitable for framing, provided by the
American Orchid Society to member societies for this purpose. The
scroll is inscribed with the awardee’s name and the reason for the
award. |
Dr.
Birute Anne Vileisis
is delighted upon receiving her award. In addition to serving as
our first vice president in charge of programming, she designed the MOS
displays for both the Santa Barbara orchid show and the Southland Orchid
Show held at the Huntington gardens. |

Lezlie Moore-Purcell
has
served as both the recording and corresponding secretary. As our Southland Orchid
Society Committee (SOSC) representative, Lezlie was instrumental
in conceiving and organizing the 2006 Southland show, All Hallowed
Orchids, held at the Huntington botanical gardens. |
