With our designer Birute
Vileisis creating and executing a very imaginative design, and Caroline Howse
contributing her expertise in flower arranging, the MOS team produced a great
display of our member’s orchids. Fred Howse was there too, always ready to
help. Giles Smith printed the labels and Karen Smith was there to judge plants
that she felt were worthy of a ribbon and take care of the paper work for the
official judges. One result of all this was that our display collected a ton of
ribbon awards. Two were special: Karen Smith got Best of Section and 1st
place for her Paphiopedilum dianthum and Sharon Gage got Best of Class and 1st
place for her Hwra. Lava Burst.
All this was possible because
many MOS members contributed plants for the display: Scott Barth, Brian Derby,
Sharon Gage, Werner Gruenwald, Caroline & Fred Howse, Sylvia Morton, Lezlie &
Graham Purcell, Annette Rossilli, Giles Smith, Karen Smith, and Birute Vileisis.
Many thanks to all of these members who made it possible for Malibu Orchid
Society to enter their display in the Southland Orchid Show.
