October 2006 It’s hard to believe the summer is over and we are thinking Holidays already. To start the season off, why not consider a trip out to the Huntington to enjoy the Orchid Show October 20, 21 & 22 and MOS’ display. The MOS Picnic was canceled due to lack of response before the cut off date and so a trip to the Huntington might just be in order. See this newsletter for more about the Huntington Show. MOS is working together with San Fernando Valley Orchid Society in hopes of sharing a bus day trip. I will have more information for you at the October meeting. Also, we have the Holiday Brunch at Duke’s in Malibu coming up in December. There is always something good happening at MOS. I need to ask all of you though to think about MOS when making donations to your favorite charities this year. Your MOS dues barely cover the cost of the Newsletter (postage and printing for a year). Your dues do not cover the rent on the Woman’s Club (we have just had a 20% increase in our rent), our Speakers, our Plant Opportunity Table and our Set Up at the Woman’s Club. We did not get the plant donations this year to help with the raffle table like we did last year. Our Spring auction was successful, but not enough to sustain us. So I ask you please to think of MOS. MOS is a non-profit charity as defined by the IRS code 501 (C) 3. Your donation is 100% tax deductible. Thanks a bunch and I hope to see you on the 17th, Coral Rugge |
